Welcome To Europe expresses its joy over the vindication of the hunger strikers' demands on day 44. We have followed and supported the hunger strike closely, and often we feared for the hunger strikers' lives. Our relief given the successful conclusion cannot be expressed appropriately.

The results of the struggle are of extreme importance, especially as they have been achieved under ever harsher conditions. The fact that the possibility to obtain a residence permit will affect all migrants in Greece points to the general nature of the struggle. The political symbolism of the travel permits that will be given should not be underestimated: it allows for free movement across the walls of Europe, and contributes to making the dream of a common social and political space uniting the Mediterranean and providing freedom of movement within more concrete.

As the promises of the government have yet to be put into law and action, we declare that we will continue to follow the developments very closely. Should the need arise to take further action, we will be at the side of our brothers, sisters and friends.

The hunger strikers' struggle for political and social rights is a big step within a new cycle of struggles for the inclusion of migrants into the European societies. It is part of a process towards a great transformation, that will lead to a Europe without borders and fences.

The struggle is complete. With the documents in hand and our heads up high, we return to our homes and our work vindicated, after 44 days on hunger strike.
The struggle continues. The announcements for an 8-year limit and the increase of work credit as prerequisites for the issuing and renewal of residence permits must become law immediately.
The struggle is the only option. The struggle against the daily exploitation and racism’s walls, the struggles for the legalisation of all migrants with no prerequisites, for equal rights between local and foreign workers, for a life with values and dignity, these are our next steps. Together with the anti-racist and migrant movement we will walk along this difficult path, the path of struggle.
The struggle unites us. With the documents in hand and the head up high we salute and wish farewell to everyone who supports us. To the people in solidarity in Greece and all other countries in the world, the doctors and their colleagues, all who stood by our side in these days of the hunger strike, in all days when our lives and our deaths demanded vindication and freedom.

On January 25th, 2011 three-hundred migrants in Athens and Thessaloniki commenced a fierce hunger strike, claiming the most basic things: equal rights with the local workers and the legalization of all migrants living, working and moving across the country.
44 days later and after more than 100 strikers were hospitalized with serious health issues, the state was forced to drop its intransigent attitude along with previous threats of deportation of the strikers and to negotiate officially with them, meeting a significant part of their demands:

As it has just been announced, the hunger strike of the 300 migrant hunger strikers has just ended, following some key government concessions in meeting their demands. As it has been agreed:
- the time limit for application for permanent residence in the country is now dropped to eight years (down from twelve).
- work credit (ensima) are disconnected from the application for permanent residence.
- all three-hundred migrant hunger strikers will be allowed to apply for 6-month rolling permits until the reach the 8-year limit in order to gain permanent residence.
This is a huge victory on the side of the hunger strikers who now see the road paved for tens of thousands of people to be able to live in the country without the fear of being undocumented.

The vindication of the 300 migrants hunger strikers is a hope for the whole society

Today’s government’s decision to meet part of the demands of the 300 migrants on hunger strike proves that the only lost struggle is the one that is not led. It also showed to all the
working people that the government of the E.U., I.M.F. and European Bank Memorandum is not invincible. The rigid militant spirit and broad social solidarity can bring tangible results.
It is obvious that it will take a long and hard struggle for lifting the Apartheid against foreign workers living in Greece and Europe. However, there should be no doubt
that the dedication of the 300 opened a new path of hope.
We would like to thank all those (and there were many …) that have supported this difficult struggle from the first days in the Law School until the hospitals. Thus, above all, we would like to respectfully welcome the 300 fighters of who the entire working class can be proud.

URGENT: The government threatens the hunger strikers that they will be evicted if they don't all agree to be transferred to hospitals.

About an hour ago (shortly before 2pm on Monday, March 7), on the 42nd day of the hunger strike of the 300 migrant workers, the Ministry of Health sent a representative to the hunger strikers staying in the front yard and corridors of the Ypatia mansion in Athens.

In its message to the strikers, the Ministry of Health states that “their limits of patience and understanding have been exhausted” and that they ask “with no further delay, that all hunger strikers be transferred to NHS hospitals in Athens (…) so that danger to their health and to their life is avoided.” The text ends in a warning: “We ask the migrants who are staying at Ypatia to cooperate with the ambulance staff so that they are transferred without further delay. We ask the people who accompany them and support their struggle, to not only refrain for obstructing the procedure, but to make every possible effort to persuade all migrants to be transferred to public hospitals.”

In other words, under the pretext that they are interested in the hunger strikers’ health condition, the government is prepared to send the police to force the migrant hunger strikers out of the building. This is the first step towards forceful feeding by the hospital staff, i.e. towards breaking the hunger strike with an order by a public prosecutor.

The hunger strikers have already decided that they are not leaving the building without a residency permit.

Latest Greece travel advises:

You might have heard that Greece is a beautiful country to visit with delicious food and people with great hospitality. Be careful: this is not the whole truth. The reality for hundreds of thousands of visitors is completely different. There is a general threat of human rights’ violations. Expatriates and visitors, who cross the Greek borders, can be departed or transferred in detention centres for 2–4 months or longer. If and when these visitors are released, they are forced to work in agriculture, local industry, organized crime, or as street salesmen, without documents or any civil rights whatsoever. Visitors of Greece are warned about abuse, intolerance, hatred, slander and indiscriminate violence by the Greek State…

Greece is exploiting approximately 500,000 illegal immigrants and refugees to raise the nation’s miserable economics. Last year, nearly 140,000 immigrants crossed the Greek borders in a hope of better life. Most of them are going to be illegalized for years and treated as unwelcome contemporary slaves.

Since the 25th of January, 300 immigrants who work and live in Greece for many years started a nationwide hunger strike in Athens and Thessaloniki. They claim the legalization of all undocumented immigrants of Greece. Their struggle is a struggle of all immigrants, workers and citizens of the world.

The 10th of March will be the 45th day of their hunger strike, but the Greek State has not yet responded to their rightful claims!

We call people in Greece and throughout the world to carry out civil disobedience actions on the 10th of March in solidarity with the 300 hunger strikers. We ask everyone to target their actions against Greek soft spot-tourism: 15% of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product is coming from tourism. In fact, tourism and migration are two sides of the legal right of freedom of movement.

We suggest an easily attainable target that people can find almost in every country: Greek National Tourism Organization. You can e.g. demonstrate, blockade, squat, spread leaflets or carry out other creative actions in front, inside or around GNTO offices.

Announcement-response to the government’s proposal, after the meeting (of the immigrants-workers hunger strikers) with the ministers:

1. We hunger strikers, from the places of our strike in Athens and Thessaloniki and from hospitals, unanimously reject the government’s proposal for a regime of tolerance, because it does not respond to our claim for legalization with freedom of movement, work-based renewal and all other rights that legal immigrants have in Greece and Europe.
2. We reject the request of the minister of Health to transfer all Athens’ hunger strikers to hospitals due to weather conditions’ worsening. As we have done for 39 days with cold and floods, we continue the hunger strike in Hypatia building (Patission Ave, and Ipirou Str.), and of course those who are in critical condition will be transfered to hospitals under our doctors’s orders.
3. We stress once again that the nationwide hunger strike is our struggle, that we take the decisions on all issues, and we demand the lies and slander to be stopped.

Wishing to spread the spirit of the struggle of the migrant workers in the centre of Athens, we are occupying the services of the Ministry of Labour at Korai Square. We call for support of the occupation from 8 a.m and for a gathering today at 2pm, at the Ministry of Labour at Korai square.

The just struggle of the 300 migrant-workers hunger strikers is our struggle, too! For 35 days now, in Athens and Thessaloniki, 300 migrant workers have started a tough hunger strike. They ask for equal rights with their local colleagues and the legalisation of all migrants who live, work and travel in the country.
Wishing to spread the spirit of this struggle to the centre of Athens, we occupied the services of the Ministry of Labour on Korai square. This is the building where on December 2010 migrant worker Emad Aziz was killed, falling from its third floor, while he was working uninsured on a Sunday and under conditions not meeting even the most basic of safety rules. This is one of the state buildings cleaned by migrants who work for contractors-slavers, in which Middle Ages working conditions reign; undeclared labour, employer brutality. What do workers at the ministry of labour have to say about that? What do they have to say about the struggle of the 300 migrants-workers, which concerns all migrants and even more so, the entire working class?
In the last 24 hours alone twenty migrant hunger strikers have been transferred to hospitals in Athens with extreme dehydration and renal deficiency – and another four have been transferred to hospitals in Thessaloniki with fainting episodes. In some of those hospitals they have not been admitted while at others police demanded from the medical staff the migrants’ names.
The 300 hunger strikers risk their lives not on the basis of individual motivation but for a collective right, in a struggle asserting the independence of the entire working class. The migrants were organised through public and horizontal assemblies in Crete, establishing via collective procedures one of the most massive autonomous struggles of migrant workers in greece. They asked from the first moment the solidarity and bridging of their struggle with the propositions of all people and collectives struggling for a world of equality and freedom. We adduce excerpts from the text issued by the hunger strikers’ assembly, with which they ask for our solidarity:
“…we find ourselves in the indignity and darkness of illegality in order for employers and state services to benefit from the wild exploitation of our labour… The more wages and pensions are slashed, the more everything becomes more expensive, the more migrants are presented as the culprits for the abjection and wild exploitation of greek workers… The propaganda of fascist and racist parties and organisations has become the official discourse of the state on the migrant issue… We ask from our greek colleagues, from every human now also suffering from the exploitation of their toil, to stand by our side. To support our struggle; not to allow for lies and injustice, fascism and totalitarianism to prevail in their land too… What has prevailed, that is, in our own lands and which forced us to migrate… us and our children”
The class discourse of the strikers clashes with the entire anti-migration policies which want to see the life and labour of migrants to be illegal, devalued and politically undefended in face of the murderous intention of the bosses and the military and police institutions of national states.
The greek state has its hands soaked in blood. It participates in the transnational alliances responsible for the (supposedly humanitarian) military occupation of the countries of origin of the migrants. At its borders, in co-operation with border forces of other countries, FRONTEX and state-controlled slavers, it directs migrants to minefields, to the bottom of the Aegean sea and in concentration camps at the edge of the country where inhuman conditions of mass confinement, torturing and violent deportation prevail.
The ideological mechanisms of the state, mass media but also a discrete part of greek society capitalising for 30 years now on the wealth produced by the migrant labour force all contribute to these crimes, as well as to the wider devaluation of the life and the labour of migrants by small and big bosses. Migrants, even if invisible and isolated, are right next to us and comprise an enormous productive population which lives, works, moves, desires and creates families, communities and solidarity networks.
The struggle of the 300 migrant workers proves the collective ability of an autonomous, class and social action by all those who are not institutionally considered to be citizens by the states – and this paves the way for the struggles of the migrants to meet with those of the locals. And this is what scares the bosses.
It is precisely for this reason that their struggle was attacked from the very first moment by the state and the mass media; it is for this reason that the academic asylum was lifted and a political protest was banned at the Law School; it is for this reason that for a first time, the political prosecution of hunger strikers is attempted. This cannibalistic and racist discourse is being worked out for years by the mechanisms of the state and during the evacuation of the Law school we heard it from the mouths of the various ministers of interior, labour and citizen pimp [a play of work with “citizen protection” - the ministry of the police –trans] – as well as by the bullies of the mass media.
As the hunger strike reaches a threshold dangerous for the health of the migrant-workers, the “condition of tolerance” is now being brought up as a proposal to the strikers. This “condition of tolerance” is not a humanitarian but a murky regulation, as it only allows migrants to stay here for six months, with the intention of deportation and without the capacity for them to leave if they so wish. This is why the strikers reject this proposal.
The migrant hunger strikers in struggle are at the forefront of social war. They posit their lives against the barbarism of authority, against the abjection and culture of death that the state attempts to command upon them and the entire society. They struggle for life, for freedom and dignity. For a world where death will behold no authority… For this reason, we call for all the struggling parts of society to stand in solidarity to the struggle of the 300 hunger strikers, which is taking place on everyone’s behalf. Because solidarity between the oppressed is our weapon. Because solidarity is not only support but also a clash for a society of self-management, without borders, fences, concentration camps, racism or exploitation.
“We are not going to cheapen life, which they have made so negligible and dispensable.
We are going to mark up death, so as to make it throbbing and inconceivable” .

DAY 29 of the hunger strike

The 300 migrants (250 in Athens, 50 on the 7th floor of the Labor Centre in Thessaloniki) have been on a hunger strike for 29 days now. Nine of the hunger strikers in Thessaloniki (of which 5 today) have been sent to hospital for fainting. According to the report of the medical health team: All of them are suffering considerable weight loss and the signs of fatigue and advanced exhaustion are apparent… The majority of them show symptoms of frequently recurring postural hypotension, muscle pain, hypoglycemia, difficulty with moving, while some of them already have palpitations and cardiac dysrhythmia.

As doctors we are obliged to note that the hunger strikers are entering a phase in which the continuation of fasting may cause irreversible damage to their health.

Yesterday, the 300 hunger strikers issued an official announcement in which they state their specific demands:

For us, legalisation is neither a generic nor an abstract slogan. We don’t want proposals to be heard without us. For us legalisation means many and very specific things. Between those, first and foremost:

The issuing – since we are entitled to it – of a proper residence and labour permit to us, the 300 hunger strikers, who demand what should be a given for everyone by putting our lives on the line

As well as:

- that residence permits are no longer connected to work credits

- that all who lost their permits because of the above reason are legalised again

- the vindication of everyone whose application was rejected in 2005, after their application submission had been accepted and after they were forced to pay thousands of euros each

- the establishment of a permanent and open procedure for complete legalisation, which will process applications constantly

- the abandonment of any idea of criminalising any of our comrades in solidarity with us, who have been called as suspects of committing criminal acts by the authorities

At the end of their announcement they add:

Anyone who wants to seriously engage with our strike and avoid a humanitarian crisis in Greece, should officially and directly contact us and whatever discussion must be focused on meeting the above demands.

This morning the Open Solidarity Initiative of Thessaloniki occupied the offices of the General Secretariat of Youth, a department of the Ministry of Labor, to protest the stance of the government. Their banner read: “1 MONTH OF HUNGER STRIKE – THE PASOK GOVERNMENT EXTERMINATES PEOPLE-VICTORY TO THE STRUGGLE OF THE 300 IMMIGRANTS”. The text distributed to people working there as well as to passers by stated, among other things, that “the only ones who will lose from the legalization are the big industrialists, the big contractors, the landowners, the shipowners…all those who, with generous help from professional politicians of every tendency, plundered natural and social resources and are now selling off scorched land”. The text was sent to the Minister of Justice, the Minister and Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Labor.

Yesterday, the solidarity concert was held at the Functions Hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the participation of numerous artists and was enjoyed by a massive audience, which did not stop cheering and shouting slogans of support to the hunger strikers, proving once again the broadness and intensity of solidarity. After the concert, a crowd of over 1000 people spontaneously decided to leave in a demonstration, which marched to the Labor Centre.

Yesterday, Naomi Klein, author of The Shock Doctrine and the historian of the Left Geoff Eley, expressed their support with the struggle of the hunger strikers.

The Open Solidarity Initiative is calling everyone to participate at the General Strike announced for Wednesday the 23rd of February and is meeting at the Labor Center at 10am on that day to join the strike marches.

The signs of exhaustion are now apparent and temporary loss of consciousness is a regular occurrence.
In Athens, one hunger striker fainted in the middle of a Press conference (video). Four hunger strikers are in various hospitals of Athens.
In Thessaloniki, the hunger striker who had been admitted to the Agios Pavlos Hospital on Wednesday night (the third fainting incident in Thessaloniki), has returned today.
All 300 hunger strikers are determined to continue the hunger strike until they win.
Their strength derives from their deep conviction that their demands are just and from their will to live -and to live with dignity.

Today we worked-in the building of Amnesty International considering that they are jointly responsible for the protection and propulsion of human, social and political rights.

The hunger strike of 300 immigrants has reached the 22nd day. This grand fight marks a turning point to the matter of immigration. The immigrants prefix the only means they have, their body and their lives, trying to make visible an existence that dominion has forced to nothingness. They fight for obvious rights of every human. They ask for their legalization and a life with freedom and dignity.

In times of crisis, like the one that we are experiencing today, authority tries to make up enemies and put the blame on them in order to disorientate society from the true causes that create barbarity against society. This way, immigrants are presented as the ones responsible for the suffering of society and so they must disappear in any possible way. Here implies a logic of camps, pogrom in the center of the cities and the wall of Evros. The finalization of exclusion. Of course nobody speaks the truth as far as the real causes that led those people to leave their countries are concerned.

There is an obvious try of the rulers to create opt zones. The only thing left to the authorities is a spread of fear and threat. And this is the common fact that binds us with immigrants in the first place. The steadily growing suppression, the fact that we are reaching a permanent state of exclusion and alert. In this logic, those immigrants fight is a fight for every single one of us, the workers and the society. Facing this straight attack that the regime unleashes, we are in great need of creating spaces of enlarged solidarity.

Ministerium der Gesundheit verbreitet hetze gegen hungerstreikende

Nachdem unangemeldeter besuch vom Ministerium der Gesundheit in Athen versucht hatten die hungerstreikende zu besuchen und ihre vorsorge untersuchungen anzubieten, obwohl es bekannt ist das die hungerstreikende medizinisch betreut werden von eine medizin gruppe die ständig anwesend ist. Der besuch und ihre untersuchungen würden abgelehnt.

Darauf hin startete der Minister eine Hetze in den Medien das die hungertsreikenden ansteckende krankheiten hätten und eine gefahr für die gesundheit der bevölkerung wären!!!!

Bei eine von den hungertsreikenden und soli gruppen gemachte Pressekonferenz dazu, fingen paar regierungs treue journalisten an zu sagen das sie nicht in dem hof der villa gehen wollen aus angst angesteckt zu werden!

Die heutigen Verlautbarungen von Loverdos zur „Bombe der Ansteckung“ und zur „Gefahr für die öffentliche Gesundheit“, welche durch den Hungerstreik der 300 Migranten erzeugt werden, ist keine Falschmeldung. Der Minister für Gesundheit beschwört ganz bewusst diese Gefahr herauf, während er andererseits keine Fakten hinsichtlich der Gesundheit der Streikenden und Hygiene in den Räumen des Gebäudes YPATIA auf den Tisch legt. Sowieso ist es bekannt, dass schon vom ersten Tag des Hungerstreiks an die Arbeits-Gruppe Medizinische Unterstützung ihre Arbeit aufgenommen hat, die die notwendigen Untersuchungen der Hungerstreikenden leistet und alle Vorkommnisse veröffentlicht.

Da es offensichtlich ist, dass niemand davon überzeugt werden konnte, dass der Hungerstreik das Ergebnis einer Verschwörung sei und dass die Migranten, die den Hungerstreik auf sich nehmen, eine öffentliche Gefahr seien, versucht man nun, uns davon zu überzeugen, dass die kämpfenden Migranten eine „Gefahr für die öffentliche Gesundheit“ seien. Wir können nun also absolut sicher sein, dass der gestrige Besuch in den Räumen des Streiks durch die „Behörde für Kontrolle und Prävention von Krankheiten“ des Ministeriums für Gesundheit und ihr offensichtliches Interesse an dem Gesundheitszustand der Migranten, 20 Tage nach dem Beginn des Streiks, Teil des Versuches einer Schlammschlacht der Regierung zu Lasten der Streikenden und zur Einschüchterung der Gesellschaft ist.

Uns bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als das Verhalten dieser Behörde anzuklagen, die sich dafür entschieden gemäß der Regierungs-Absichten zu handeln und selbst ein Rädchen in einer Maschinerie zur Produktion von Lügen zu werden, wie sie vom ersten Tag des Kampfes der Migranten an errichtet wurde.

Der Hungerstreik der 300 Streikenden Migranten wird zum Sieg führen und es wird ein Sieg der Gesellschaft werden!

Hungerstreik der 300 Migranten in Athen und Thessaloniki

Heute ist der 21.Tag.
Hier ein Bericht der letze Tage:
Am 10.2.2011, war der 17. Tag des Hungerstreiks der 300 Migranten in Athen und Thessaloniki.
Ein großer Teil der Migranten kam vor 18 Tagen aus Kreta mit der Fähre nach Athen, um dort den Hungerstreik zu beginnen. Riesige Transparente hingen an der Fähre und machten die Forderungen des Hungerstreiks bekannt.

Die Migranten wurden im Hafen von Piräus von Solidaritätsgruppen in Empfang genommen, um dann gemeinsam in ein leerstehendes Unigebäude im Zentrum von Athen zu ziehen. Ein Gebäude der Universität wurde u.a. deshalb gewählt, weil seit dem gewaltsamen Eindringen von Soldaten ins besetzte Politechnikum am Ende der Militärjunta das sogenannte Universitätsasyl gilt, was der Polizei verbietet, die Gebäude zu betreten.

Kaum hatte der Hungerstreik begonnen, begann eine große Hetze von den politischen Parteien Hand in Hand mit den Mainstream-Medien gegen den Streik. Teil der Hetze seitens der Regierung, war eine Anklage gegen den Prokuristen der Reederei, mit dem die Hungerstreikenden gekommen waren, deren Agenten und den Kapitän, wegen der großen Straftat des Transports von Illegalisierten. Dazu muss man wissen, dass die ANEK-Reederei seit Jahren Abschiebetransporte für die griechische Regierung vornimmt. Ein paar Tage später hatten 2.080 Menschen sich öffentlich dazu bekannt, dass sie Flüchtlinge unterstützen.

Resultat der Hetze war, dass die Hungerstreikenden nach wenigen Tagen das Unigebäude verlassen mussten, um zu verhindern, dass die Polizei gewaltsam in das Gebäude eindrang. „Wir sind mit der Pistole am Kopf dort hinausgegangen“, sagte einer der Aktivisten später auf einer Pressekonferenz. Über Nacht musste eine Ersatzunterkunft für mehr als 100 Hungerstreikende gefunden werden. Nach mehrstündigen Verhandlungen mit der Polizei und dem Besitzer einer in der Nähe befindlichen leerstehenden Villa wurden die Streikenden mitten in der Nacht mit einer Solidaritätsdemo dorthin begleitet. Weil nur der erste Stock und der Keller benutzen werden dürfen, zelten die Mehrheit der Hungerstreikenden im Hof. Durch tagelangen starken Regen war die Situation zunächst äußert prekär. Erst eine Wetterbesserung am 5.2. schaffte etwas Erleichterung.

Die Hungerstreikenden werden Tag und Nacht von Solidaritätsgruppen unterstützt, geschützt und solidarisch begleitet. Da die Hungerstreikenden großen Wert darauf legen, ihre Autonomie zu behalten, werden die Entscheidungen in unterschiedlichen Plenas getroffen, die sich aber austauschen. Die Atmosphäre ist von Entschlossenheit und Respekt geprägt. Viele Menschen unterstützen die Streikenden durch praktische Mithilfe oder durch ihren Besuch.

Am 8.2.2011 erklärten sich auf einer Pressekonferenz viele MigrantInnen-Organisation aus Athen und Griechenland solidarisch mit den Streikenden und ihren Zielen. Die Hungerstreikenden kündigten an diesem Tag an, nun auch mit dem Teetrinken aufzuhören.

Am 9.2.2011 fand auf einem Platz gegenüber ein mehrstündiges Konzert mit vielen griechischen Musikern statt. Neben ihren Liedern waren Beiträge der Flüchtlinge und Solidaritäsbekundungen zu hören, u.a. von Konstanina Kouneva.

houses, everyday costs of expences with exorbitant costs, the absence of definitive results in revenue without shelter, sleeping to the Parks and thousands of other problems. Unfortunitly, we will soon all refugees will be addicted to the above
mentioned problems. the other problem and serious threat from the Albanian Community in Athens, specially against the Afghans and even those that series of events led to several murders and wounding dozens of Afghans.

The future fate of refugees are not clear that even some people got mental problems. While the majority of immigrants in terms of linear time
deadline was not sufficient that caused public confusion. In such cases, any features that the law passes there, the people in general has deadlock. since the government of Afghanistan has no political representative in Greece, the only way to
solve the problems of Afghans is to deliver the petition letter to honourable UN Office which is named as a house of all
nations.

we are respectly requesting the relevant organizations to have in view of decision 1954 and 1965 letters regarding convention appropriate action to solve our problems and stated the Afghan refugees. it is being requested from the relevant
organization that Afghans are also in the ring of the UNHCR that should pay special attention on them. In order to respect public orders and prevent possible harass to take care of big demonstration of Afghan refugees, they have signed this petition letter and accepted the following names as representatives of all Afghans based in Athen city.

Abdul khaliq Zandi, Qasim Ali Yousufi, Najebullah Niamati, Ahmad Qasemi and Farshid Haidari.

Hopes that the relevent Organization with understanding the higher authorities of European countries, Greece and vulnerable countries which are accepting refugee immigrants should prioratize the refugee of Greece.

Its is a big problem existing in Somalia, because in the country there is no stability . This young guys grow up in a war or with fights, so they only learn how to fight. They dont learn any other thing.

When they miss their daily food, they try to get it in the sea. They all search how to get ransom. When they catch a ship they say 

give us the amount of that money.

I think what made them to do that step is only to get their life to get food. Most of them were fishermen before.

If you ask them why do you do something like this?

They say to you: before we were fishermen and these ships came to our sea and they took all the fish in the sea, thats why. 

When they take our 

fish we have to take our defence!

Good things can come you know , all over the world.

Most people think Somalis are bad people but most of them they are not bad ..As god makes your own finger not the same, one is shorter one is longer, people are also like that. One is good, one is bad. You know, maybe they can apologize for what they did and maybe they can feell sorry.

Some say somalian people are thieves, some say we are burglers, some say we are terorists. But we are not what they say.

We dont have any goverment and that is our problem,

But there are some people who are good: those who understand , you know, some people who help.

Good things can come you know, all over the world.

They say most of the pirates were getting their life stuff in the sea.

So their lifes when they tried to go back to the sea or tried to fish they meet a lot of big ships those who take all of the fish they left for somalis only the small fish that brings no money.

So all fell sory and when they talk to each other and get the idea to be prirates. Thats why they become pirates .

Most of them you know they are getting food from the sea, everything and then this ships a lot of ships pass by. Its a route like highway somalis live in a highway . So they see it like : it is another money from the sea!

Because their is no more fish. When they thry to get fisch they meet a lot of problems like when they take the small boats in the sea, maybe they can not go close to the ship you know.

I remember when i was in somalia in the beach you see dead fisch ,some bad things they through on our sea, so some times you see a lots of dead fish, so they get angry and they talk to each other and they say we become pirates.

Thats why they are pirates but not me , i am a refugee.

If i would be pirate i would have money and i would be alive in somalia. if you have money you dont care about job.

The money they get from ship is a lot of money 4oo dollar each person.much money.

Das Bild , das Wort und die Aktion: Migrant_innen in der Revolte

Wenn Du aus dem 10. Stock eines Hochhauses oder aus den Fernsehsendern die Straßen der Revolte beobachtest, kannst Du die Menschen nicht gut charakterisieren oder ihre Identitäten erkennen.
Aber wenn Du auf der Straße warst, konntest Du spüren, was geschah.
Neben Dir hast Du Student_innen gesehen, Schüler_innen, Flüchtlinge, Migrant_innen, Menschen aus der "Szene" und Menschen, von denen Du nie gedacht hättest, sie neben Dir auf einer Demo zu sehen, Menschen jedes Alters.
Eine Menschenmenge, die an nichts erinnerte, was wir in Griechenland bisher erlebt haben. Eine Menschenmenge, die - immer wenn sie auf der Straße war - eins wurde. Verbunden durch Solidarität und Freundschaft.
Es waren überall Flüchtlinge und Migrant_innen da, überall: bei den Demos im Politechnikum, bei den Blockaden der Schüler_innen, am Strassenrand, bei den zerstörten Geschäften. Der Teil der Gesellschaft, der am meisten unterdrückt wird, der Teil, der alltäglich die Polizeigewalt am eigenen Leib spürt, von Straßenkontrollen bis zu Abschiebungen an den Grenzen, von der staatlichen Gewalt und Bürokratie bis zu den Toten in der Ägäis.
Alle waren da. Sie hatten sowieso nicht viel zu verlieren.

Denn diese Tage von Alexis sind auch die, von all denen, die in Unsicherheit leben, in Angst, Tage von all denen, die wollen, dass sich alles ändert.

Die zweite Generation Migrant_innen war auf der Straße zusammen mit ihren Mitschüler_innen - nichts trennt sie mehr voneinander: sie leben in den gleichen Vierteln, sie sitzen an den gleichen Schultischen, träumen die gleichen Träume.
Die zweite Generation, die keine mehr Angst hat, die nicht gebückt läuft:
weil sie Teil dieser Gesellschaft ist und ihre Rechte fordert mit Spontanität und Fantasie.
Auf den Straßen waren wir alle gleich, die Stadt war unsere:
Kein Gehorsam mehr, ein zauberhaftes Leben!

Wenn das Kameraobjektiv näher zoomte, änderte sich das Bild:10 Migrant_innen, die in einen Laden stürmen und alles mitnehmen.
Das Bild wurde ununterbrochen ausgestrahlt.
Bereits von Beginn an wurden sie von den Medien zur Zielscheibeerklärt - diese Diebe. Bewußt und direkt wurde damit auf das Besitzgefühl der Bürger_innen gezielt, damit sie
sich Sorgen um ihr Eigentum und ihre Glasscheiben machen, viel mehr als um ihre Kinder.
Das Recht auf Leben, auf Respekt und das Recht auf Eigentum werden in der Sprache der Herrschenden gleichgestellt.
Diejenigen, die beständig Staatsbesitz, Geld aus den Kassen und uns unsere Leben rauben, besitzen die Frechheit, über Diebstahl zu reden.
Diese gezielte fand nicht allein auf der medialen Ebene statt.
Die meisten Festgenommenen sind Flüchtlinge und Migrant_innen. Sie wurden auf
den Straßen verhaftet, mit zwei Uhren oder einem Rasierapparat.
Unabhängig von der sonstigen Strafe, bestraft werden sie alle - mit Abschiebung.
Für den Staat und seinen Repressionsaparat ist klar, dass wir nicht alle gleich sind.
Aber es geht noch weiter: in aktuellen Veröffentlichungen wurde der Begriff "Illegaler Terrorist" (kiriakatiki eleftherotypia 11/01/2009) erfunden.
Gibt es wirklich noch Schlimmeres als nur "Terrorist" oder nur "illegal"?
In dem Artikel wird die Sorge des Innenministeriums über eine mögliche Teilnahme von Migrant_innen bei der Epanastatikos Agonas (revolutionärer kampf) geäußert.
Wörtlich sagen sie: "es wurde die Einschätzung geäußert, dass in Migrant_innenkreisen bereits Handlungen stattgefunden haben, die es rechtfertigen, die Migrationspolitik im Rahmen der inneren Sicherheit neu zur überdenken". Die Antwort ist bekannt:
mehr Repression, mehr Polizeipräsenz, mehr Migrationskontrollen.
Diese Lösungen sind nur dazu gedacht, Ungerechtigkeit und Unterdrückung zu verschärfen, um die Wut zum Überlaufen zu bringen.
Für uns wurde in Dezember offensichtlich, dass Flüchtlinge und Migrant_innen im Herzen der Revolten sind, sie sind kein passiver Teil der griechischen Gesellschaft, der geduldig seine eigene Unterdrückungaushält, sie sind aktive Subjekte, die ihr Leben in die Hand nehmen - wie wir alle.
Sie haben uns an die Revolten von Los Angeles 1992 erinnert und an Paris 2005.
Aber es gab einen Unterschied in Griechenland: Migrant_innen und Griech_innen sind zusammen auf die Straßen gegangen.
Es war keine Revolte der Banlieus, es war keine Revolte einer Stadt oder einer sozialen Gruppe. Es war eine Revolte mitten in den Städten von Alexandroupolis bis Chania und von Mitilini bis Korfu, gegen die Repression und gegen die Ungerechtigkeiten, die wir alle täglich erleben.
Vielleicht noch ohne gemeinsame politische Sprache, ohne Analysen und Forderungen, aber bewegt durch den unerträglichen Alltag und von der Wut, die aus Ungerechtigkeit geboren wird. Wie in dem Text des Steki (treffpunkt) der Albanischen Migrant_innen gesagt wird:
"Diese Tage sind auch die Tage für hunderte von Migrant_innen und Flüchtlingen, die ermordet wurden an den Grenzen, in den Polizeiwachen, an ihren Arbeitsplätzen.
Sie sind Tage für alle die, die die Zähne zusammenbeißen, für all die Beleidigungen, die wir hinnehmen mussten, all die Niederlagen, die wir einstecken mussten. Sie sind die Tage für all die Male, an denen wir nicht revoltiert haben, obwohl wir alle Gründe der Welt hatten.
Diese Tage sind die Tage aller Außenseiter, aller Ausgeschlossenen, all der Menschen, die unaussprechliche Namen haben und unbekannte Geschichten.
Diese Tage sind für Gramoz Palousi, Louan Berdelima , Entison Giachai,
Toni Onoucha, Ambdurakim Indriz Modasser Asraf und all die anderen, die wir
nicht vergessen werden."
